Compact PVS-14 Night Vision Monocular (IPVS-14 Mini)

The IPVS-14 Mini is a compact night vision monocular designed and manufactured by INFREDAR. With light weight and durability as its core design goals, this product meets military standards and is made of advanced PEEK polymer material, weighing only 244g—making it one of the lightest professional monocular night vision devices on the market. It also features excellent structural strength, heat resistance, and corrosion resistance, making it suitable for long-term use in various complex environments. Its specially designed optical system further balances the demand for light weight, and by adopting advanced FMC (Ultra-Wideband Multi-Coated) technology, it boasts the advantages of a wide transmission band, low halo, low edge distortion, and high light transmittance. Additionally, the product is integrated with an IR illuminator, which can flexibly adapt to different usage scenarios, meeting the needs of both enthusiasts and serving as a high-quality choice for formal military and law enforcement.

IPVS-14 Mini — Lighter. Tougher. Built for the Mission.

Why Weight Matters More Than You Think

The standard AN/PVS-14 has been the global benchmark for monocular night vision for over two decades — and at 351g with battery installed, its weight has long been accepted as a necessary compromise. The IPVS-14 Mini eliminates that compromise. At 244g, it is nearly 30% lighter than a mil-spec PVS-14, directly reducing neck strain and head fatigue during extended helmet-mounted operations. For units conducting multi-hour surveillance, patrol, or overwatch missions, that difference is felt on every deployment.

PEEK: The Material That Makes It Possible

The weight reduction is not achieved by cutting structural corners — it is achieved by building smarter. The IPVS-14 Mini’s housing is constructed entirely from PEEK (Polyetheretherketone), a high-performance engineering polymer used in aerospace, medical implants, and military applications. Compared to the aluminum alloy used in standard PVS-14 housings, PEEK offers:

  • Comparable structural strength at significantly lower weight
  • Superior corrosion resistance — immune to salt, moisture, fuel, and cleaning solvents
  • Non-conductive and non-magnetic — relevant for EOD and sensitive electronics environments
  • Stable performance across the full operating temperature range

The result is a housing that is not merely lighter, but materially superior to aluminum in several operationally relevant dimensions.

Optical System: FMC Lenses Built for Low-Light Performance

The IPVS-14 Mini uses an F1.18 / 22.5mm objective lens with fully multi-coated (FMC) broadband coating applied to every optical surface. This delivers:

  • Maximum light transmittance across the full spectral range
  • Minimized halos and ghost images around bright light sources
  • Low edge distortion for a clean, usable image across the full field of view
  • A standard 40° FOV, with 50° available as a custom configuration
  • Diopter adjustment of +5 to -5, covering a wide range of operator vision profiles

Gen 2+ or Gen 3 — Up to FOM 2400+

The IPVS-14 Mini accommodates both Gen 2+ and Gen 3 image intensifiers, in green (P43) or white (P45) phosphor, with FOM levels available up to 2400+. Tube grade is selected at order to match end-user performance requirements and procurement budget — giving procurement teams the flexibility to specify higher-grade tubes where mission requirements demand it, and more economical configurations where they don’t.

Flexible Configuration for Procurement and OEM

Unlike legacy mil-spec platforms where form and function are locked, the IPVS-14 Mini is designed from the ground up for configurability. The following features are available as factory-configured options — procurement teams should specify requirements at time of order:

1. Image Intensifier Tube Options
Gen 2+ or Gen 3 tubes, in green phosphor (P43) or white phosphor (P45), with FOM levels up to 2400+.

2. Waterproofing: IP65, IP67
IP65 is standard, providing full dust protection and resistance to high-pressure water jets — sufficient for the majority of field and law enforcement applications, and available at lower unit cost. IP67 is available for applications requiring submersion capability. Procurement teams can specify the appropriate rating by application, optimizing cost across mixed fleets.

3. Field of View
Standard 40° FOV is production-ready. 50° FOV is available as a custom configuration — contact our technical team for specification and lead time.

4. Manual Gain Control
Available as a factory-configured option for operators who require independent brightness adjustment beyond the standard automatic brightness control system.

5. Additional Customizable Functions
Low-battery indicator and reticle are available as optional features. Housing color and additional interface customization available on request.

No ITAR — Commercial Procurement Timelines

The AN/PVS-14 is classified under ITAR as a defense article. Export requires U.S. State Department licensing, is subject to denial, and is unavailable to many end markets entirely. The IPVS-14 Mini is manufactured in China with no U.S.-controlled components. Procurement proceeds on commercial timelines with no export license requirement and no approval risk.

Cost Advantage: Mil-Spec Capability Without Mil-Spec Pricing

For procurement programs where budget is a governing constraint, the IPVS-14 Mini delivers a clear cost-performance case. It is priced well below comparable U.S.-origin PVS-14 systems, while providing the same fundamental operational capability of a quality monocular night vision system. For agencies equipping large numbers of personnel, or OEMs building mid-market complete systems, this cost differential is mission-enabling.
